Kim Carothers

Kim Carothers graduated from the University of New Mexico, Magna Cum Laude, with a BAFA, concentrations in drawing and painting. During this time she co-created large murals at schools in the Albuquerque area while working with other artists, students, and school administrators. These public works adorn the walls of libraries and exterior spaces. After graduating Kim worked with adults with disabilities in a Very Special Arts program.
Kim spent some time in New Hampshire where she discovered a love of yoga and was blessed with the opportunity to assist with an art and yoga retreat at the Kripalu Institute in western Massachusetts. During this time she participated in shows in local cafes and galleries in Southern New Hampshire..
Most recently Kim has rekindled her passion for art through work in ceramic figurative sculpture. She is a juried member of SACA (Southern Arizona Clay Artists), and has participated in shows at galleries, libraries, and in the juried art festival held at the Tucson Museum of Art. In December 2013 she relocated to Lucas, Texas with her family. Kim is an active member of the Texas Clay Artists Association and has shown at the annual six pack show. She joined the Texas Sculpture Association in 2014. Kim has participated in juried shows through out the Dallas Fortworth area. She has completed several commissioned sculptures and her work is held in private collections across the United States. Kim currently teaches ceramic sculpting classes at The McKinney Art Studio. Kim finds inspiration in nature, the human figure and our capacity to imagine, love, grow and dream.
