The husband and wife team of Glenn Spelis and Reba Browning collaborate to create eye-catching metal sculptures for the home and garden. They work together to refine Reba"s initial design, then Glenn does the fabrication using his skills welding and metalworking. The final finish could be paint, patina or a natural rust finish depending on the sculpture's final placement. Before retirement, Reba was an educator for 31 years, and Glenn was a pilot/agent for the U.S. Customs Service. When they moved to the Lake Texoma area they chose welded sculpting as their avocations. At times they will purchase new metal for a project, but they often use found pieces from scrap yards as components for a sculpture. As members of the Texas Sculpture Association the couple regularly participates in the member shows in the Dallas area. They also exhibit their work at area shows in the Sherman-Denison-Durant area. Glenn and Reba strive to create refined, non-representational art that is pleasing to the eye, draws the viewer in to think and examine how it is constructed, and is an enhancement to the area where it is installed. Inspirations come from sources including colors and shapes in nature, a specific theme, available materials or the intended settings of the sculptures themselves.
