Carrie Adamson-Riefler
Artist based in North Texas, Carrie Adamson-Riefler works with painting, metals, printmaking, and video projection. Her artwork presents mangled and twisted beauty. She believes in the redemption and triumph of the soul and that through perseverance and courage, regardless of past mistakes, one gets the chance to start again. In Carrie's current body of work, destruction constitutes renewal; chaos allows for cohesion as she shoots, corrodes, and distresses sheets of metal. On top of this battered surface, she paints portraits of people she has interviewed regarding their mental health. The tarnished surface of the metal reflects the mental turmoil of her subjects. encouraging a dialogue of contemplation and reflection portraying a dichotomy of struggle and perseverance using portraiture and shot metal work.
